U.S. District Judge Louise Flanagan ruled Friday that outside groups cannot intervene in the criminal case accusing former FBI Director James Comey of threatening Donald Trump.

Flanagan rejected all amicus curiae briefs, stating in her official court order that both the defendant and the government are already ably represented by competent counsel.

This early decision limits external participation in one of the most high-profile federal prosecutions involving a former senior law enforcement official in modern history.
