Justice Clarence Thomas criticized the Supreme Court on Tuesday after the majority refused to hear a lawsuit brought by Florida against California and Washington.
Florida argued that both states improperly issued commercial driver licenses to undocumented immigrants, violating federal safety standards and creating severe road hazards.
Joined by Justice Samuel Alito, Thomas stressed that the high court has a strict constitutional obligation to resolve interstate disputes when states have nowhere else to turn.
