New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani strongly condemned a Supreme Court ruling on Thursday that allowed the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status for hundreds of thousands of Haitian and Syrian immigrants. The 6-3 high court decision impacts approximately 350,000 Haitians and 6,000 Syrians who have been legally residing and working across the United States for years.

Mamdani labeled the judicial decision as one of the most severe attacks on immigrant communities in modern American history. He warned that thousands of individuals now face the terrifying prospect of losing their legal authorization to live and work safely in the nation they have embraced as their permanent home.

Highlighting the local impact, the mayor noted that many affected residents fled devastating earthquakes, severe famines, brutal wars, and extreme political violence abroad. These individuals have since built deep roots, raised families, launched small businesses, and actively contributed to the economic and social fabric of New York City.
